Dwarf name generator
Dwarven names are built to be shouted across a forge or a battlefield. They are short, front-loaded with hard consonants, and almost never end on a soft vowel. The clan name does the heavy lifting, because among dwarves the clan outranks the individual.

How dwarves are named
A compact given name plus a clan name, and the clan name is the part that matters. Battlehammer, Fireforge, and Frostbeard are all compounds describing what the clan does or endures. Dwarves introduce themselves by clan first in formal settings.
Picking one that works at the table
- Say it while imagining a room full of noise. A dwarf name that gets lost in a tavern is the wrong name.
- Clan names are shared. If two party members are the same clan, that is a relationship, not a collision.
- Avoid soft endings. Dwarven names close on a consonant far more often than not.
Using these names
Every name here follows dwarf naming conventions from the D&D 5e SRD and traditional fantasy literature. None are copied from published characters, so they are safe to use in your own campaigns, streams, and published work without attribution.
